Wakefield Council has an exciting and challenging programme of both major and minor highway works including management, design, and construction of new roads. We have a project plan for major schemes programmed until late-2020s, along with numerous smaller and maintenance schemes. These include works under the “Active Travel fund”, “Transforming Cities Fund”, Corridor Improvement Programme and the effects of the Towns Fund.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled individual to join a growing team delivering a wide variety of highway related schemes of varying sizes and complexity across Wakefield. This post is a career graded post G7 to G9.
You will be responsible for the planning, design, repair, maintenance, management and new construction of highways and footways in a flexible manner function within the Traffic, Engineering and Design team of varying sizes dependent on experience and grade.
At the senior grade, you will be responsible for the delivery of smaller projects, and assist in the delivery of major projects, schemes, S278 processes and supporting more junior members.
You will also assist in providing advice to councillors, committees, public inquiries, other services, private developers and the public on highway design, construction and traffic management.
The post is a permanent, full time role based at Wakefield One in Wakefield City Centre within the Traffic Engineering and Design Team. Previous applicants may reapply.
