Our Bristol office is looking for proactive and driven Civil Engineers to own and deliver projects and bring fresh ideas to enhance the way we work. You will be required to liaise with internal and external teams to take a lead on coordination activities.

The existing Civil Engineering team is technically strong, has a very inclusive culture, and is a great place to further develope your career.  We need new engineers to join us to help deliver a very strong pipeline of interesting and varied work.

Ideally you will have a variety of skills which could include flood risk management, drainage, sustainable drainage, earthworks, pavement design, level strategies, utilities and access road designs. You should be technically strong, energised to assist with our digital transformation, driven towards better sustainable designs and motivated to help reduce effects from climate change

Planning and statutory approvals are an essential part of the job so experience in local and national legislation along with the approval process is beneficial.  Knowledge of design documents such as Sewers for Adoption, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British Standards and the Building Regulations is expected.

Qualification Requirements

The following qualifications are beneficial but not essential. However we encourage applicants to demonstrate drive and motivation, a willingness to learn, and a desire to obtain a suitable professional qualification. 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree qualified (2:1 or above preferred) in a relevant subject. 
  • Working towards, or have obtained Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status through your chosen professional institution

Essential skills, knowledge and behaviours

  • Good technical knowledge base, including some or all of those noted in the job overview.
  • Up to date with latest software including Microsoft Office, CAD and 3D modelling software.
  • Experience of hydraulic modelling, Microdrainage is beneficial.
  • Professional and respectful approach to both colleagues and clients.
  • Motivated and willing to learn and take on new challenges, enthusiastic about developing your skills and experiences.
  • Keen to share knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

Desirable skills, knowledge and behaviours

  • Climate change resilience design, and good understanding of the UN SDG’s.
  • Coding experience, desire to manage data better and improve automation.
  • Experience of working with other disciplines which influence infrastructure design such as Geotechnics.
  • Experience of working on construction sites.
  • Seek to improve existing ways of working by finding efficiencies in processes .
  • Commercial awareness and keen to learn about the business side of our operations.
  • Experience of planning and statutory approvals.
