Mallards is a new Botanical Garden taking root in the Isle of Man. It is driven by a multidisciplinary group who share a passion for excellence, innovation and sustainability. Currently a private estate, we aim to create a public environment that will be appreciated over many generations. The project is a celebration of global plant diversity, a showcase for ideas in construction, conservation, and agriculture, and a place where our relationship to the land can be refreshed and enhanced.

We are recruiting a long-term Site Construction Engineer to participate in the design process from start to finish and manage the construction of buildings, watercourses and landscape elements. Over time the project will encompass restoration works, new build mixed-use, and substantial hydro engineering as well as earthworks and civil engineering to shape the canvas on which our botanists and landscape artists work.

This multifaceted position requires a hands-on professional with strong construction management skill, a background in design engineering, geotech, or hydro-engineering, and an eye for detail. Since we have the luxury of time and space to innovate, and the project will take two centuries to mature, we have a special interest in authentic, traditional materials and designing for very long term maintenance.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary & benefits package, and ample opportunity to improve their knowledge, skills, and experience working on projects with a unique scope and brief, in a beautiful and remarkable setting. The Isle of Man is a British Isle, the only nation that is entirely a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The lifestyle here suits people who like the outdoors - fresh air (sometimes very fresh indeed), dark skies, coasteering, hill walking, rambling, diving, and sailing are all popular. While the island does turn into a frenzy of activity and noise during the annual madness of the TT motorcycle race, it is otherwise peaceful, relaxed and authentic. At once familiar and yet different, it is a superb place to raise a family, or create and enjoy a world-class botanical garden.
