This is a really exciting time to join our team, become involved in major projects and build your career. You’ll be involved in providing infrastructure that will make a real difference to our communities and make Test Valley an even better place to live, work and visit. You will have an opportunity to influence and deliver engineering projects in Andover and Romsey including the once in a generation plans for the two town centre regeneration schemes.

As the Council’s Lead Engineer, responsible for a small team of Project Engineers, you’ll be responsible for the design and implementation of civil engineering projects on the Council’s capital and asset management programmes, and developer-funded schemes. Varied in nature, these include the provision of footpaths, cycleways and parking, to sports and leisure play facilities.  You’ll also work with Hampshire County Council on transport-related infrastructure improvements.

As a Chartered Engineer, with detailed working knowledge of civil engineering practises and legislation, you’ll bring a depth of experience on a range of engineering projects. An effective communicator, you’ll work regularly with Councillors, whilst acting as the key liaison with Hampshire County Council and other partner organisations and contractors.  You’ll also have a proven track record in contract and budget management with an ability to develop innovative and bold solutions which delivery value for money.

In return, we offer successful applicants a competitive salary and a great place to work. We actively promote a good work/life balance and encourage continuous learning and development. We offer a range of employment benefits including a local government pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, free on-site parking and discounted leisure facilities. We can also offer you flexible working arrangements including the option to work part of your week from home. For further information on what we can offer you, please visit the link below.
