Senior Structural Engineer

An opportunity for a structural engineer with building or industrial structures expertise who wants to broaden his/her experience. The position will provide a change of emphasis, alongside mainstream building structures projects they have a burgeoning workload within renewables, data centres and electrical infrastructure that is set to expand over the next decade as the UK transitions to a new low carbon economy. It will provide you with highly sort after expertise, and the growth of the firm’s engineering division will enable you to progress your career.

The company: A limited liability partnership employing over two hundred staff throughout the UK. They are one of the longest established firms in their sector with expertise covering building, construction, conservation, property, expert witness, land development, engineering and surveying. You will be a senior member of a ten strong engineering division and will work alongside and report to a partner.

Your role; End to end management of projects, from client specification through to design delivery. Management of junior staff, sub-consultants and technical leadership on structural engineering matters with oversite of associated civil work. Other day to duties will include structural assessments, structural calculations, feasibility studies, liaison with clients and site visits (typically no more than once per week). More generally, you will assist in the expansion of their engineering function, recruitment, the programming of work and the continuous improvement of their business and processes.    

About you: A chartered civil (MICE) or chartered structural (MIStructE) engineer. Experience that includes the design and delivery of steel and reinforced concrete projects, conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards. Knowledge of engineering software such as Tekla Tedds, Robot or similar. A background in building or industrial structures. Strong interpersonal skill with the ability to work in a team environment and provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and technicians. You will need a valid UK driving licence.
