CAD BIM Technician - Civil and Structural

Are you a 3D BIM technician with a passion for construction and infrastructure projects? Laing O'Rourke can offer an excellent opportunity to join their design team in the head office based in Dartford. Develop your career in our new BIM Technician vacancy.

Working on the UK's biggest projects in construction and Infrastructure you will be part of a unique team working on a variety of projects. With a multitude of project stages, variety of work and challenges to find solutions for, it will test your skills and enhance your reputation.

Working with structural engineers and technicians across the business, you will be responsible for producing 2D and 3D models for major infrastructure and building schemes across the UK. The role involves producing BIM and CAD models for any required Temporary Works or construction equipment needed to safely build the project.

A high level of fluency with the Autodesk software suite is an essential requirement of the role, including Revit Structure and AutoCAD. Do you have the ability to produce clear and concise 2D layouts from 3D BIM models? Do you work on a range of proprietary construction equipment, including falsework, formwork and shoring systems?

Additional activities include:

  • Generate 3D structural models using Revit Structure software.
  • Produce clear and concise 2D structural information from 3D models, i.e. layout plans, general arrangements, and details, providing consistent presentation across software platforms.
  • Produce output of building information/scheduling e.g. Reinforcement schedules, pile schedules, BOMs etc.
  • Provide graphical Construction Sequence Information for use in site method statements, task briefings and risk assessments.
  • Provide models to be used by field engineers in the preparation of 3D visual method statements.
  • Work collaboratively in the shared model environment across other teams and disciplines to ensure transparent and up-to-date coordination.

Technical Understanding:

We are looking for candidates looking to expand their knowledge on multiple platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation. Do you have a high competency in 3D and traditional 2D CAD drafting? Are you familiar with reinforced concrete and steelwork structures? Then this could be the role for you.
