Role Purpose

Reporting to the Flood Risk and Water Resources Manager (South), this role will lead, direct and motivate a team of staff based in Haverfordwest and St Mellons that manages and delivers the local flood warning services and flood incident response to professional partners and the public.

Key Attributes

A good understanding and knowledge of a wide range of flooding related issues e.g. data management, flood incident management processes including warning, informing, incident response and the Civil Contingencies Act roles and responsibilities of NRW and our professional partners.

Well-developed customer relation skills, with a sound knowledge of our duties and responsibilities to meet customer’s needs.

The ability to work collaboratively with other team leaders throughout the organisation and proactively brief senior management teams on problems and solutions. 

Able to work on behalf the Ops South FRM & WR on NRW groups such as Operational Incident Management Group and Forecasting, Warning & Community Resilience Sub-Group

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant subject.                                                                    
  2. Member or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIWEM, ICE or IRM).
  3. Well-developed customer relation skills, with a broad knowledge of our duties and responsibilities to meet customer’s needs.
  4. An understanding of a wide range of flooding related issues e.g. data management, Flood Incident Management process including warning, informing and response by the public and professional partners.
  5. The ability to work collaboratively with other team leaders throughout the organisation and proactively brief senior management teams on problems and solutions. 
  6. Must have a full UK driving licence.
