Mechanical Building Services Engineer | Glasgow | Zero-Carbon Technology | Long Term Contract

Your new company
Hays are working closely with a large public sector organisation in Glasgow who are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join their busy design team on a long term contract basis.

This position will initially be home based, however the plan is to move towards a phased return to the office as restrictions start to ease. You may also be required to attend site visits around the Glasgow area, so it is important that you live within a commutable distance.

Your new role
Joining a multi disciplinary, in-house design team, you will report to the Principal Engineer and will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of multiple high profile projects throughout Glasgow. These will be across a range of sectors, but notable projects will include new build & refurbishment works to primary schools & early learning centres, care homes, and leisure facilities, ranging in value from £200k - £16.5m and committing to using low and zero carbon technologies.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this contract, you will be a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience working within building services. You should have excellent concept detailed and technical design skills, with previous design experience ideally including heating systems; water services; mechanical supply and extract ventilation & heat recovery; air conditioning & gas services. It is also important that you have previous job running experience and effective communication and presentation skills. Whilst it is important that you are a competent CAD user, you will have the support of a CAD Technician to help produce technical drawings.

What you'll get in return
The role offers an immediate start with a large public sector organisation on a temporary contract basis for a minimum period of 6 months, with a high possibility for further extension. As mentioned above, the hourly rate for this position is negotiable dependent upon your experience, but will be in the region of £22-£27ph PAYE. (please note that this role falls inside of IR35). In addition to the remuneration package, the role allows for an excellent work-life balance with the working hours amounting to 35 per week along with a generous annual leave entitlement.
