As a Lead Transport Analyst at HS2 you will provide strategic and technical direction on transport analysis matters across all HS2 activity and phases, and in particular in relation to scheme design and traffic and transport assessment. Lead the development of HS2 transport assessment related analysis, in support of previous and future hybrid Bills. Lead analysis to support assurance of design and physical deliverables, and provide assurance that HS2 has met its obligations.

About the Role:

  • Lead transport analysis activity including transport modelling and forecasting for scheme design (highways and stations) across all phases and stages of the programme.
  • Provide oversight and technical authority to the development of traffic impact assessments, in support of both future Transport Assessment and compliance with Environmental Minimum Requirements and Undertakings and Assurances.
  • Provide expert advice on the methodological approach to fulfil the analytical requirements of the Environmental Statement and Transport Assessment, working closely with Lead Transport Planner. • Lead assurance of transport planning and analysis as it relates to HS2 and other related projects, and in reference to HS2’s own internal guidance and standards.   • Lead the development of policies, strategies and standards that will ensure that HS2 meets its obligations and delivers credible and coherent transport solutions.
  • Manage transport planning and analysis activity, including the management of direct resource, resources deployed across the phases and across the Professional Service Contractors (PSC) and contracting teams.
  • Support the Head of Transport Planning in setting delivery strategy and developing the functional requirements of the Transport Planning discipline.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external stakeholders (TfL, DfT, TfN etc.), industry partners (NR etc.) and technical bodies and institutions on transport planning and analysis matters related to the HS2 scheme.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You:

  • Define complex analytical requirements and able to interpret key messages within a wider business context.
  • Able to provide specialist technical leadership on discipline-specific scientific, technical, and engineering principles to project development / delivery teams
  • Understanding of relevant transport data and assessment techniques in the development and evaluation of transport schemes 
  • Knowledge of the specification, interpretation and limitations of transport modelling and forecasting, including pedestrian planning, highway, and public transport modelling for both strategic and local assessment
  • Experience of leading delivery of transport planning and environmental assessment related elements of major infrastructure projects
