We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Senior Engineer to join our Civil Structures team in Edinburgh.  

What does the role involve? 
Working within our Civils Structures team on bridges and other highways structures, you will act as Lead Design Engineer to undertake and check the delivery of design solutions and associated outputs and coordinate with other disciplines. You will provide technical guidance, support and training to colleagues and assist in the mentoring and development of others.
You will be involved in projects from conception to completion including; supporting the Project Manager to clarify the project brief, agree deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, quality assurance and control strategy; establishing project checking and approval arrangements and managing internal project start-up meetings; undertaking significant elements of the detailed design and the checking of outputs as directed: e.g. calculations, drawings, sketches, reports etc to achieve the optimum solution for the project; assessing, documenting and communicating design changes to the Project Manager; being aware of work requirements and taking personal responsibility in delivering this to agreed time, cost and quality requirements; reviewing projects on completion and recommending/implementing improvements to technical policy, processes and design solutions as appropriate.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:
  • Relevant post qualification structures design experience and a strong successful record of project delivery in structures design including bridges and other highway structures.
  • Expertise in structural modelling software such as Autodesk Bridge Design and Lusas or similar structural packages
  • Experience of designing to Eurocodes using different materials including RC concrete, steel, timber, etc.
  • Significant previous experience of providing project governance on projects.
  • Chartered Membership of a relevant Professional Institution (or be working towards).
