The Highways and Drainage Services Section is looking to recruit a Drainage Manager to lead the delivery of the Council’s Highway Drainage, Land Drainage and Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management functions.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a professional and ambitious team in order to reduce the risk and impact of flooding within the borough of Neath Port Talbot. A combination of climate change and ageing infrastructure presents an interesting challenge that needs to be addressed in order to achieve this. The team, consisting of engineers, officers, technicians, supervisors and operational staff are currently delivering ambitious capital and revenue programmes and have been recognised as one of the leading Lead Local Flood Authority teams in Wales.

You must have significant experience within the fields of Drainage and Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management and will require a good working knowledge of the Highways Act, Land Drainage Act, Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Flood Risk Regulations 2009. Furthermore, you will need to have excellent communication and leadership skills to continue to drive the team forward and meet the demands placed upon the service area. As the Drainage Manager, you will be responsible for the Council’s operational and technical response to flood events that occur within the borough, therefore it is essential that they have the ability to be organised and reactive under pressure as well as agile as priorities tend to change quickly.

You will report directly to the Highway and Drainage Services Accountable Manager.

Applications may be submitted in Welsh, applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
