About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a keen interest in flood risk management to join our team in the role of Flood Innovation Project Manager. The role will take the lead on delivering a grant funded project to apply innovative approaches to delivering flood risk management, community resilience and environmental improvements. Project funding for the initiative ‘Managing flood risk using information technology in the Pix Brook catchment’ runs until 2027/28 however the role is permanent and will remain with the council to continue to deliver flood innovation across our area. In the role, you will provide the day to day management and set the strategic direction for a project team of consultants, flood risk professionals, academics and a wide range of stakeholders. You will be responsible for working with others to research and embed new approaches to achieve resilience actions with a strong focus on the use of flood technologies and integrated water management techniques.

We are looking for someone who has the technical skills to deliver this high-profile role, with the tact, diplomacy and communication skills essential for effective partnership working. Knowledge of flood risk management would be a benefit but is not essential if transferrable skills can be demonstrated.

The post reports to the Flood Risk Team Leader and sits within the Council’s Flood Risk Team which together delivers the role of ‘Lead Local Flood Authority’ and its functions. Key duties of the role

Lead point of contact and responsible for the implementation of the council’s flood innovation project work.
To co-ordinate partners and take an active role in stakeholder and community engagement. With support from third parties: business case development, project planning and implementation, monitoring and reporting on project aims and objectives.

Overseeing finances of the project, procurement and spend.
