Our Transport team has developed and grown a wide-ranging portfolio of projects and clients covering a diverse array of schemes of all scales across the UK, which includes residential, health, education, retail, energy, leisure and employment.

Following the success of our continued growth, we are now seeking experienced Transport Planners across all levels to join our Birmingham and Bristol teams to continue our growth as we roll out our extensive Transport services nationwide and across the Midlands.

You will work on and be involved in managing a number of complex transport planning projects with the transport team and given the opportunities to lead on the development and delivery of such projects.  This will include:

  • the promotion of development sites from site identification/acquisition, through the planning application processes to submission,
  • Discharge of planning conditions and monitoring which will be achieved through the implementation of various aspects of work
  • Preparing documents such as transport statements, assessments and travel plans.

Alongside the Transport Directors you will deliver market leading consultancy advice, necessitating a sound understanding of client requirements on projects and recognition of competing stakeholders’ interests with effective resource management. You will provide support to junior and senior staff as well as having the opportunity to develop your own project management and commercial skills.

Person Specification

We are seeking enthusiastic Transport Planners up to Associate level, with an understanding of transport planning policy and delivery of projects to clients.

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate the following:

  • Degree in a related subject (a master’s degree in transport would be desirable)
  • Sufficient experience at the relevant level applying for within a private consultancy or local authority environment.
  • Experience with Transport Statements, Assessments and Travel Plans;
  • Access strategy work, parking strategies, sustainable transport, S106 agreements, S278 agreements and guidance such as NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, Manual for Streets etc;
  • Use of the TRICS database;
  • Setting up and running PICADY’s and ARCADYS;
  • An understanding of LINSIG and can carry this modelling out for different scenarios, understand what they are doing and why;
  • The principles of micro-simulation and strategic models/modelling;
  • Junction design (priority, roundabout, signals).

The level of knowledge and experience will be taken into account commensurate with the level of role applied for.
