You’ll be part of our project team delivering our organisation’s strategic ambitions; having the ability to develop a great working environment, to be part of a high performing team working collaboratively with our supply partners, as part of the Integrated Delivery Team.

You’ll use your excellent communication skills to develop and build a strong network of working relationships both inside and outside the organisation with Stakeholders and Partners, such as statutory authorities, local councils, landowners, and local communities to negotiate agreements, gain approvals and secure external funding.

You’ll develop your project, contract, and risk management skills to establish effective supply-partner relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working, following governance procedures, decision-making as Project Manager. We’ll expect you to facilitate the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through feasibility, detailed design and into implementation, construction, and handover.

We are Programme and Contracts Management (PCM), part of Major Projects and Programme Delivery (MPPD), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management.

You will become part of an award-winning team that provides areas, national services and centres, with an effective project/ programme management service. Our strong, well-qualified teams manage projects throughout their life-cycle to deliver environmental improvements, adding value and resulting in a greater sense of shared ownership with local communities.

Experience/Skills Required: 

Likely to be qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline with and expectation you will be working toward chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as ICE, CIWEM/APMP but not essential if you demonstrate good experience in a project or programme delivery environment.

A passionate leader, with the ability to build a great working environment and bring the best out of collaborative and high performing teams in different locations. You will be skilled in developing people, managing performance, delivering through others, building inclusive relationships, and embedding excellence and knowledge sharing.

Holding a Portfolio, Programme, Project, or Contract Management qualification would be an advantage but is not essential and will form part of your development plan. However, it’s the way you innovate and demonstrate commitment to the Environment Agency’s goals for the future, along with continuous improvement mind-set that will set you apart

As part of the role you may be required to co-locate and work at other Environment Agency and delivery partner offices across the South East Delivery Hub. You may also be required to attend national meetings in locations such as London and Birmingham, with some overnight stays.
