The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other public spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

We are now looking for a Civils and Drainage Engineer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 36 hours per week.

The Role

As the Civils and Drainage Engineer, you will provide civil engineering and construction support to the Works and Estates Teams.

Within our historic park setting, you will assist in the management and maintenance of a variety of assets from roads, drainage, reservoirs, conduits to lakes, rivers, and bridges.

Additionally, you will:

- Conduct monthly inspections of roads, footpaths and reservoirs
- Establish recurrent maintenance programmes for roads, drainage systems, bridges etc.
- Prepare annual budgets for roads and footpaths
- Undertake condition surveys and reports
- Project manage on maintenance projects

About You

To be considered as a Civils and Drainage Engineer, you will need:

- Design and site management experience in civil engineering with particular reference to drainage and highways maintenance
- Knowledge and experience of contract management, including writing and reviewing specifications, ordering and supervising work and handling general contract issues
- Experience of report writing and presenting reports
- A sound understanding of relevant legislation and technical matters relating to drainage and highways management
- An understanding of Health & Safety legislation and the requirements for managing public and private land
- The ability to think creatively and use your initiative to solve problems in potentially variable and diverse situations
- Proficiency in IT packages, including the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
- A degree and/or HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Knowledge of CDM regulations would be beneficial to your application, as would knowledge of NEC or other forms of contract.

The ability to prepare tender documents and tender evaluations would be equally advantageous, as would membership of an appropriate professional body e.g. ICE, CEng, and/or MCIWEM.
