Structural Technician

We are working with one of our key clients to find them a Senior Technician to join the structure team in their Chelmsford office on a full-time permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to join an award-winning practice who benefit from a network on national offices and whose projects are varied, to include residential, educational and commercial for both public and private sector clients.

If you have previous experience in a Structural Technician role then our client would like to hear from you. Their ideal candidate will be involved in working on schemes from concept to completion, including at detailed design and construction phase. You will understand the importance of providing cost effective drawings in accordance with the brief provided, whilst adhering to time frames and financial constraints.

Responsibilities:

• Undertake design 2D/3D modelling of Structural engineering schemes including the preparation of general arrangement layouts,
• Develop models and plans with support from Engineers,
• Developing details from sketches and 3D design models to complete working drawings,
• Produce accurate and technically correct CAD, Revit and reinforced detailing drawings, comprising general arrangement layouts, sections and associated reinforcement schedules,
• Produce drawings using the most efficient and cost effective method without affecting quality or technical accuracy, working within fee scales and budgets,
• Respond to queries on drawings from external consultants, clients and contractors as necessary, ensuring responses are recorded and actions,
• Prepare copies of drawings for issue together with any printing, folding and document preparation and issue.

Requirements of the Structural Technician:

• An HND or similar in Civil Engineering,
• Significant experience of carrying out designs of drainage and other civil engineering works,
• A high level of competency using software packages such as AutoCAD, MicroDrainage and Civil3D,
• Excellent numerical and verbal/written communication skills.
