Double Days | Mon - Friday | 1 in 4 weekends | Overtime availability | Global Food Manufacturing Company

Your new role
Prevent losses (equipment damage), accidents or injuries through use or maintenance of equipment.

  • Conduct continuous machine observation during the shift, identifying potential safety risks and taking necessary actions to remove the hazard
  • Conduct risk assessment prior to any maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to start of work to remove hazards
  • Ensure equipment is handed back to production in 100% safe condition
  • Be aware of incident reports and work with operational managers to promptly implement solutions to prevent re-occurrence.

Complete corrective actions during shift to return equipment to, quality, hygiene and standard output levels.

  • Respond immediately to equipment failures during your shift
  • Conduct systematic, rigorous and accurate fault diagnosis
  • Determine most effective solution to the fault
  • Effect the solution, and report on nature of fault, cause and solution via computerised maintenance system.

Prevent machine failure during your shift and in later shifts

  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled during the shift to required standard - review with team leader during the shift confirming any actions / parts required or complete tasks.
  • Use SAP PM system to access work orders and PM reporting.
  • Complete shift report account for all shift time - activities and parts.
  • Use SAP WM to identify location, book out and back in any parts required from stock.
  • Be responsible for specific items of equipment - documentation, spares, pm's, any specific issues - safety, quality, hygiene, performance - liaise with all teams to provide potential solutions and improvements.
  • Conduct continuous machine observation and measurement during the shift, identifying potential failure or deterioration in output, waste or quality performance from machine standards
  • Determine cause of potential failure or performance deterioration, and either complete remedial work during shift or brief subsequent shift and Engineering Manager on issue, cause and recommended solution
  • Use manuals and failure history to develop preventative tasks. Brief the Engineering Manager of the task and its purpose. Train engineers on other shifts how to perform new tasks.
  • Responsible for completing a minimum of 40 hours training per year - self and planned training to maintain and improve their level of competency.

Identify, recommend and implement machine and process improvements

  • Regularly observe the operation of all equipment
  • Identify causes of reduction in output per hour, or yield losses

Develop and recommend solutions to improve output rate per hour or materials yield in writing to the Engineering Manager

  • Observe and understand non-productive activities such as product changeover and hygiene cleaning.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce the time taken for these activities.
  • Develop and recommend solutions to improve the time taken in writing to the Team Leader

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding the relevant requirements of the health and safety policy.
  • Support additional tasks as requested by the Engineering Manager to meet and support the Engineering Departments objectives.
  • Follow all the working processes within the Engineering Department, ensuring that any training is requested and best practices shared.



What you'll need to succeed

  • Educated to HNC Level or equivalent and time served
  • 2 years of experience of Engineering, post apprenticeship
  • Analytical and systematic in approach. Excellent communication skills
  • Positive, motivated and a team player. Outgoing and flexible. Detail conscious and practical
  • Understand basic customer needs
  • Support the creation of solutions to meet the expectations of your clients
  • Regularly monitor the quality of your work
  • Learn from mistakes. Proactively identify what needs to be done, take ownership and appropriate actions.
  • Maintain patience and demonstrate persistency in your work




What you'll get in return
Double Days:
Monday - Friday 1 week of earlies 5.45 - 2.15pm
1 week of lates 1.45 - 10.15pm
1 weekend in 4 - weekend can be split (Saturday 1 week and Sunday another week, rather than working the full weekend)
Weekend paid at overtime rate. £18.60ph = 37.5 hours £36,270 - but with the weekend it equates £42,617 Can work overtime too You will undergo a 6 month probationary period.
Workwear will be provided.
