A new post has been created within the Flood and Coastal Risk Management Team which is part of Civil Engineering Services. You will join a forward thinking and experienced team which manages the delivery of both revenue and capital funded small to medium sized flood alleviation schemes.  Additional duties include maintaining and inspecting flood risk assets, taking on the role of Lead Local Flood Authority under the Flood and Water Management Act and managing the council’s housing stock of septic tanks, wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.

We seek a motivated individual with a working knowledge of the construction industry together with an understanding of wastewater and surface water drainage disciplines.  You should have experience of dealing with complex and varied situations together with knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.  A working knowledge of NEC procedures would be beneficial.

You should hold relevant construction related qualifications and have relevant post qualification civil engineering and project management experience.  An ability to translate technical knowledge into real outcomes together with good communication skills at all levels including with the public and a wide range of stakeholders is essential.

In return the post carries a competitive salary and offers a range of benefits including car mileage allowance, contributory pension scheme, generous annual leave entitlement and various flexible working options both office based at (County Hall, Beverley) and remotely as part of the council’s blended working approach.  There are also fantastic opportunities for appropriate further training/qualifications including through an accredited ICE training scheme which the service area operates.
The team has access to the latest flood modelling and design software and continual personal development is encouraged at all levels.
