Summary

About the role:

Overall responsibility for the Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) in compliance with the Act, Works Information and any Third Party Agreements. Contributing to achieving a safe system of work and assuring to third parties that impact of construction is as predicted and acceptable. Implementing and triggering of contingency measures when necessary. Reporting to the Head of Asset Protection.

Main Responsibilities

  • Fulfil the contractual 'I&M Coordinator' role,
  • Package Management of the Routewide I&M Subcontractor engaged to install instrumentation in accordance with the accepted Contractor's I&M Statement and local Contractors Monitoring Plans (CoMP), to enable construction activities and protect 3rd party assets.
  • Package Management of the Routewide INSAR (Satellite Monitoring) Subcontractor
  • Package Management of the Routewide I&M Data Management Platform
  • Ownership of the Contractors I&M Statement and other relevant supporting processes, plans and documentation.
  • Provision of I&M expertise to support the Area Delivery teams where appropriate, such as on MAT, SRG or CTC meetings.
  • Coordination with all Delivery Areas and Design entities to ensure Designers Monitoring Plans are produced in a compliant and timely manner and Inform CoMPs and asset specific MAPs.
  • Coordination with all Delivery Areas to ensure Routewide I&M Contractor Resources are allocated and distributed as required, ensuring sufficient resilience and maintenance is considered by the Area delivery teams.
  • Agree and ensure the delivery of suitable baseline with relevant impacted 3rd parties.
  • Ensure that commissioning and testing of the instruments is correctly undertaken;
  • Ensure that readings are taken at the frequency specified in the Contractor's Monitoring Plan;
  • Ensure that the information required for all review meetings is available, including reporting against the agreed trigger levels
  • Ensure that copies of all processed monitoring data are available to the Project Manager within 24 hours or any other agreed period.
  • Maintain a calibration register of all instruments and Equipment.
  • Ensuring all data is correctly entered into the databases; and validating the electronic processing of data into information


Ideal Candidate

  • An appropriate professional qualification.
  • Appropriate experience in management of installation, implementation, operation, maintenance and removal of instrumentation and monitoring systems on major projects of a similar nature.
  • Familiar with environmental regulations for AONBs and ESA in relation to monitoring and instrumentation.
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
