We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business. This role involves working closely with other disciplines and supporting the FEED design and detailed design for the civil aspects of substation refurbishment/extensions, new-build substations and other electrical civil infrastructure. You will ideally have a wide knowledge of the transmission and distribution sector, having worked with a number of the key T&D clients in the UK.

About You

A pro-active individual with knowledge and understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry. You will have the capability to coach and work within the wider energy team. You will be engaged in the engineering community and understand how we can drive success for our clients, including understanding innovative solutions and industry best practices. You can develop innovative and practical solutions to a range of problems, and an understanding of how one issue may be part of a much larger solution. You will make an effective and collaborative contribution to the team through sharing knowledge, promoting ideas, and valuing the contribution of all team members.

A Bachelor's/Masters degree in Civil Engineering (or related field), from an accredited institution and professional registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and ICE is preferred. You will also have experience as civil substation engineer, with a wider awareness of other typical HV civil engineering projects.

You will have a good understanding of CDM requirements. You will also have good knowledge of National Grid's Transmission Procedures, in particular: TP135, TP137, TP141, TP153, TP163, TP184, TP188, TP235, TP241. You will have a thorough knowledge and experience applying National Grids Technical Specification, Technical Guidance Notes, and Design Handbooks relating to civil/structural engineering of electricity T&D infrastructure in the UK. An understanding of the causes and consequences of Impressed Voltage is preferable.
