We are seeking to appoint Asset Management Officers to support the delivery of our Water, Land and Biodiversity asset work. This is a challenging and busy role working in the office and the field. You will manage your own workload, working flexibly according to the demands of the roles.

The role includes:

  • Planning and scheduling actions from internal asset management plans ensuring assets are safe/operational/resilient and legally compliant.
  • Supporting the management of the asset maintenance regime; including defect management/maintenance contract coordination/management of minor refurbishment projects/financial forecasting/assisting on planning and scheduling inspections.
  • Support the maintenance of a consistent inventory of local assets, embedding a new Asset Management Information System (AIMS) and a new method to understand local asset condition.
  • Support the delivery of the Strategically Important Assets programme – asset plans, contingency plans, and implementation of minimum technical requirements.
  • Supporting the asset condition cataloguing, inspection, and assessment, ensuring data and information is recorded accurately.
  • Support delivery of the Public Safety Risk Assessment (PSRA), Assessment and Inspection programme.
  • Lead on maintaining, inputting. and interpreting routine data on key systems.

There will also be opportunity to take an active role in the Environment Agency's incident response.

The team

Reporting to the WLB Asset Management Team Leader, you'll work with a range of colleagues from asset management both in Area/National, such as Hydrometry and Telemetry, Groundwater and Contaminated Land, Hydrology, Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology. There will be a need for joined up working with other asset performance teams from business functions e.g. FCRM and MEICA regarding coordinating inspections and other work. You will form part of a national community of practice for asset management.

Experience/skills required

We're seeking individuals with asset management experience, preferably with relevant work experience in the water environment.

First-class communication skills are essential and it’s important you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities.

Ideally, you may have experience in the following:

  • Asset management experience, including identifying risk, contingency planning and whole life asset management.
  • Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information.
  • Ability to undertake data entry and interpretation.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Able to develop and maintain good relationships.
  • Work under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions/ achieve outcomes.
  • Have an eye for detail, be efficient and able to persevere with tasks.
  • Experience of engineering/project management would be advantageous but not essential.

Formal qualifications in asset management, data and information management (e.g. GIS) and/or experience of undertaking works in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 are advantageous.
