Job Details

Transition to a sector that is in consistent demand for its expertise and commands high fee margins. This is an opportunity to join the civil and structural division of a leading UK forensic engineering and expert witness consultancy. Their case load covers major infrastructure, buildings, and industrial assets. This includes highways, tunnels, bridges, high-rise buildings, ports, airports and more. Your workload will be varied and draw upon your structural engineering strengths. You will receive training and support from engineers who are leaders in their field.

You will be joining a team that includes architects, civil, structural and geotechnical engineers. Their workload is national and international, mainly on behalf of insurers, loss adjusters, lawyers and corporate clients. They are called upon to investigate the failure of structures above and below ground. This starts with a visual investigation of an affected structure, you will then apply your structural engineering expertise to establish the root cause of the failure, culminating in a report that sets out your findings.

Your Profile: A structural engineer with building structures or civil structures design experience. You should be a chartered civil engineer (MICE) or chartered structural engineer (MIStructE), have a strong technical background with natural curiosity and a talent for thinking laterally. A willingness to embrace a diverse workload that presents an array of new technical challenges. Your engineering knowhow should be backed up by good written and verbal communication skills.

Career Prospects: The position provides a direct route to partnership. You will steadily develop the skills and expertise to enable you to progress and meet their succession plans. Progression will be assisted by the nature of their workload with its tendency to thrive when there are economic headwinds.
