Quantity Surveyor

Your new company
You will be working for an established civil engineering and building contractor based in Derbyshire. This company has a strong pipeline of work across a range of sectors including water, electricity, waste, energy generation/storage as well as retail and commercial, and pride themselves on not only investing in their people but remaining committed to meeting the ever changing demands expected of the civil engineering industry. They are now looking for a permanent quantity surveyor to join their team to work on a diverse range of projects in the civils sector.

Your new role
You will be reporting to the Directors and Managing Surveyor and be responsible for, but not limited to, preparing quantities and pricing projects, collating and submitting tenders, ensuring that reputable companies undertake all sub-contract work, agreeing with the Contracts Manager the extent of work to be sub-contracted, preparing accurate evaluations of work carried out as well as organising the sub-contractors to ensure that production is completed within planned cost and duration alongside the Site Agent.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will be a proactive and self-motivated team player with ideally at least 5 years postgraduate experience in surveying on small/medium scale civil engineering projects. You will hold a BSc Quantity Surveying degree (or equivalent) and have working knowledge of NEC3 and/or 4, JCT or ICE forms of contract. In addition, you will be commercially aware, have sound communication skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project. Previous experience surveying for high voltage substations and/or heavy civil engineering structures is desirable.

What you'll get in return
