Great opportunity to join our dynamic and developing Design Teams.

As a forward-thinking in-house business unit, Hampshire Engineering Services offers a range of services to the County Council and other public authorities. Our Structures Design Teams are looking for highly motivated and technically strong Senior Engineers to be involved in the delivery of challenging bridge design and maintenance schemes. We have a great team environment, and we support and develop our engineers, so they are continuously developing their skills.

Working in the Structures Design Teams, you will take autonomy of your own work and be responsible of all aspects of the project whether is a bridge maintenance, strengthening or replacement scheme. Experience in the management and mentoring of junior staff would also be an advantage. You should have a thorough understanding of relevant design standards (Eurocodes), construction methods and contract procedures.

Our current projects include design of a new integral two span continuous steel composite deck bridge as part of a bypass route (£26M scheme), a £5.5M bridge replacement scheme in New Forest, a £25M refurbishment scheme of 4 major structures spanning River Test and Network Rail tracks, several small bridges and footbridges deck strengthening and replacement. Future work will include among others, multi-million railway footbridge replacement and strengthening of a 27 spans concrete bridge. In addition, we provide technical support to external clients, developers, contractors, and other local authorities.

What can we offer you?

Challenging and rewarding work – from small bridge strengthening schemes to multi-million design and repair schemes.

The opportunity to enhance your skills and broaden your technical capabilities.

Hampshire County Council is a flexible employer interested in making the most of your skills and offers a great work life balance. We will also invest in you through our internal development programmes and training. Hampshire County Council offers a competitive salary and benefits package, please see our website for details,
