Job Details

An opportunity for a building structures engineer to be more closely involved and influential in the design and delivery process. It will provide a career boost to an engineer wanting to move away from the production line of a very large consulting practice without compromising on quality, complexity, or scale of projects. This practice is long established, independent and held in high industry regard. Their workload includes some of the UK’s larger, high-profile projects, involving regular collaboration with celebrated architects. Worth consideration for a potential recruit is that this is a medium size business arranged into smaller project teams, your ideas and knowledge will have meaningful impact, and it will ensure the development of your client facing, technical and delivery skills. More generally the firm nurtures its employees and has a friendly and collaborative culture, all of which has resulted in low levels of staff turnover.

Current Projects - These include - A £50m redevelopment of a terrace of “grade one” listed buildings in Central London. The six storey scheme will incorporate ground level retail and restaurant space, plant room, balconies and concealed roof terraces, all designed to achieve a BREEAM “Excellent” rating. A £200m development comprising a 4000 sqm sports and leisure centre, 2000sqm health centre and five new multi-storey buildings up to a height of eighteen storeys, all designed to achieve a BREEAM “very good” rating. The project has been designed extensively using BIM and the practice has designed the associated drainage infrastructure. A £65m  nine storey mixed use development in the City of London providing 14,000 sqm of office space, 1,450 of retail space and thirteen new residential units. Their pipeline of future work is strong and will include a mix of new and refurbishment projects

About You -You should have five years or more building structures design experience. This should have ideally included some exposure to refurbishment projects. Knowledge of steel and concrete design and the ability to use engineering software such as TEDDS, SCIA or similar packages. A degree qualified structural or civil engineer, on course to becoming chartered with the IStructE or ICE. Good interpersonal and client facing skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
