Civil Project Engineer

Our client, a major contractor has an opportunity for a civil engineer with a consulting engineering background to join their technical division. They have secured a significant long term workload with their client Network Rail,  part of a major £7bn investment. You will play a key role in the delivery of these projects, providing technical input to improve buildability and to ensure designs are optimised and to the correct standards. In addition, you will carry out a limited amount of temporary and permanent works design. Your workload will be broad taking in the civil and structural elements of bridge, railway station, power, signalling and building projects. This will involve working closely with project managers of individual schemes throughout the project lifecycle.

The Company: A major civil engineering contractor and a leader in the delivery of transportation projects. Their key clients include Network Rail, Highways England, and Transport for London. They have a consistent workload and a record of winning repeat business, their order book is full through to 2030.  They provide favourable terms of employment and heavily invest in training and development to ensure staff progression and succession.          

About You: A civil / structural engineer with a design background that includes the design of permanent and some exposure to temporary structures. This experience could have been gained working on building, bridge, industrial, road or rail projects. Good lateral thinking skills with the practical mindset to understand the implication of design on the construction process. Good interpersonal skills, able to forge strong working relationships with projects managers, external stakeholders and colleagues. A Degree qualified civil or structural engineer who is working towards chartered status with the ICE, or IStructE, or has already achieved chartership or incorporation.
