North Somerset Council has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Professional who has extensive experience in Design and delivery of Highway improvement projects including Active travel schemes. We are a forward-thinking authority using the latest techniques to manage its Highway network and you will play a key role in shaping and managing the schemes for future use of the Highway network.

Typical duties will include:

Management of the Active Travel and Scheme Delivery Team in the design and delivery primarily of Highway improvement projects including safe routes to school, cycle infrastructure, public transport schemes and pedestrianisation and walking initiatives. As well as providing support and advice to the Head of Highway Technical services.

The Team Manager, will be responsible for delivery of various duties including:

• Lead role in developing and managing team workload and budgets Resource planning annual
• Highway Capital improvement Programme Lead role in continuously improving team standards and working practices 
• Working with client teams to develop briefs and specifications for Highway schemes to maximise outcomes
• Contract management of programme delivery
• Team health safety and wellbeing
• Environmental carbon reduction in scheme delivery and outcomes

Our highways play a sometimes unseen but essential role in the lives of residents, business and visitors alike.    

You should be educated to a minimum HNC level (NVQ level4 or equivalent) in a relevant subject and have achieved or be working towards relevant professional status.
