Highways Engineer - Chelmsford

We have an exciting opportunity for a Highways Engineer to join one of the world's most prestigious names in multi-disciplinary engineering services in a role that will offer the successful candidate a career working on some of the most exciting and challenging engineering projects around the globe.

The transportation team in their Chelmsford office cover all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management from inception to detailed scheme design and delivery support and they require a motivated Highways Engineer to join their existing highways team on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

• Working on a wide variety of highway projects at all stages of their project lifecycle from concept, through design and construction to end of life extension all in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and best practice,
• Working in a BIM level 2 environment accredited to BS 1192 using Autodesk Civils 3D and other engineering related software, such as Micro-drainage, for specialist applications,
• Providing technical support to graduates, assistant engineers and technicians, checking and reviewing their work,
• Engaging with all stakeholders including clients, contractors, customers and other designers,
• to provide solutions that deliver for everybody.

Requirements:

• BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent,
• Experience in delivering civil engineering design to relevant local and UK highway design standards/guidance such as DMRB, Manual for Streets and Active Travel (Wales) Design Guidance or LTN 1/20,
• A good comprehension of technical standards relating to highways design,
• Willingness to lead client interfaces in conjunction with other senior staff,
• Experience in the engagement and management of project stakeholders,
• Ability to advise clients on technical matters in conjunction with other senior staff,
• Ability to coach and develop junior team members,
• A willingness to work flexibly to deliver projects to time and budget.
