Package Manager for Tier 1 Contractor


Role Profile: Packager Manager - Instrumentation & Monitoring responsible for:

  • The delivery and ongoing management of third-party asset monitoring associated with all Old Oak Common construction works
  • Management of stakeholder interface associated with third party asset protection and I&M
  • Overall commercial management of all I&M scope (third parties and station box monitoring)
  • Management of HSEQ associated with third party asset monitoring
  • Overseeing maintenance of I&M within HS2 station box (structural health monitoring)

What you'll be doing:

As a Package Manager,

You will:

Analytical Thinking & Decision Making

  • Review specifications & drawings, as well as documents prepared by the subcontractor (ITP, RAMS, …), and ensure they are submitted, reviewed by the appropriate people and accepted in a timely manner, to allow the works to start;
  • Propose any optimisations of constructability, produce high level construction methodologies to support procurement, interface management and early consenting requirements (logistics, noise, access etc);

Health, Safety & Environmental

  • Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System, support continuous improvement and ensure subcontractor complies with the H&S & environment requirements;
  • Promote observation and safety initiatives and support accident / incident investigations;

Resources & Development

  • Develop/monitor/report against resource allocation plans in line with scope and outputs;
  • Motivate the subcontractor team, ensure the staff and operatives have the right skills and competence in line with their role, and highlight if training is required;

Risk, Issue & Opportunity

  • Assist the Construction Manager to lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes;
  • Log and escalate any issues that cannot resolved at delegated level of authority;

Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Collect information required to specify procurement requirements (for WP8.1b);
  • Help to ensure procurement plans and schedules are aligned with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain executed in line with project targets;

Quality

  • Follow targets / KPI's in line with project objectives and monitor performance, address where KPIs identify actions;
  • Ensure assurance activities/audits are undertaken, recorded and actioned, including checking that the implementation of the works is in compliance with the Design, ensuring timely production of Construction quality ITP records and as built information;

Schedule

  • Monitor progress and implement Short Interval Control processes / hold weekly meeting;
  • Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations;

Commercial & Contract

  • Monitor project budget, cost control and any cost recovery action;
  • Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts;
  • Raise, appraise and implement EWNs and CEs.


Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities & Experience Essential:

  • Experience of working on a variety of project types including those with rail interfaces and multiple complex subcontract packages;
  • Relevant experience in civils projects, particularly using reinforced concrete
  • Enthusiastic, capable and confident communicator, comfortable working in an open, challenging, and collaborative environment;
  • Holds or working towards a formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in management/construction/engineering or experience equivalent, CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent;
  • A proven ability to lead the team with adept interpersonal and influencing skills;
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously and flexibly without compromising on standards and quality;
  • Passion for leaving a positive legacy in the communities we serve;
  • Experience in implementing safe systems of work, managing risks and change processes;
  • Experience in temporary works design, management and installation;
  • Proficient on O365;


Desirable:

  • Holds or working towards Professional Qualification/APM PFQ/PMQ.
