Business Control Partner (Security and Risk) | Banking | Multiple Locations across the UK | Up to 81k DOE
Your new role
As a Business Controls Partner, you'll have an opportunity to make a vital contribution to driving a generative culture of risk awareness, recommending solutions to operations' risk issues within the businesses. As such, you'll strengthen the level of ownership within the business, identifying and calling out areas of weakness and sharing best practices. You'll deliver a robust risk governance framework in line with the operational risk handbook, as well as supporting and delivering relevant risk activity to build credible and realistic plans to move and sustain a control environment certification rating. You'll also participate in senior security and technology forums and provide commercial controls input whilst building networks across the Security and Technology teams. Day-to-day, you'll be:
- Supporting the assessment and implementation of risk framework and security and technology related policy compliance and changes
- Supporting the RCA team and the business to review their risk profile and control environment to determine inherent and residual technology related risks.
- Analysing technology risk reporting and metrics to inform commercial risk appetite and risk and control assessment, and escalating emerging risks in a timely manner
- Developing and delivering a strong risk awareness across the business, contributing to the prioritisation, design and implementation of the operational risk principles into the business
- Managing the interface between the business, second line of defence and other critical functions, as well as the wider risk and controls teams
What you'll need to succeed
As well as a strong understanding of our operating processes, you'll need general and project management skills involving complex people, process and technology issues, along with a proven understanding of the practical application of risk management principles. You'll also need well developed knowledge of our businesses and associated products, processes and technologies. You'll need knowledge of technology controls and processes that support the management of security, resilience, stability risks or causes of risk. You'll also need technology and security experience gaining within a risk and controls environment. On top of this, you'll bring:
- The ability to articulate technical risks and issues for senior management in laypersons terms
- Strong senior stakeholder management skills
- Influencing and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to view the impact of issues from a wider or macro perspective
- The ability to think creatively when resolving problems and identify alternatives where established procedures may not exist
- Knowledge of technology controls and processes that support the management of Security, Resilience, Stability risks or causes of risk.
- Ability to articulate technical risks and issues for senior management in laypersons terms.
- Participate in senior Security and Technology forums and provide Commercial controls input and challenge.
