Job Details

Civil Marine Engineer, working for a consultancy based in Romsey.

Your new company
You will be working for a boutique consultancy, who have a number of key clients across the marine sector. You'll have the opportunity to work with an experienced consultant, with the long term plan to move into a more senior role and head up the marine division.

This consultancy have recently been awarded several large marine projects by repeat clients, and the successful candidate will take on and manage these, becoming the main point of contact.

Your new role

  • Producing design calculations to British Standards and Eurocodes using a pragmatic approach and practical thinking
  • Organising and carrying out condition surveys (from land and/or water)
  • Producing condition reports including recommendations for remedial works
  • Analysis and design of structures by hand and/or using software such as Trimble Tedds and TSD, Graitec, Superstress and others
  • Management of technicians and engineers to ensure deliverables are of the required quality and issued in a timely manner
  • Hand-sketching to efficiently convey concepts and instructions
  • Networking with key clients and developing new opportunities within the marine engineering sector
  • Communicating within a multidiscipline design team to ensure the projects run efficiently
  • Consideration of the financial health of projects
  • Occasional travel to sites around the UK

What you'll need to succeed
  • Good experience in the design of marine structures such as piers, jetties, revetments, wave breaks, quay walls, sheet piles, fenders, bed protection, linkspan bridges/supports, dolphins, hardstanding, washdown areas, dry stacks etc.
  • Experience in delivering a range of projects in the UK
  • Exceptional report writing ability
  • A high degree of organisation in their work
  • An exceptional understanding of the Marine environment
