Job Details

An opportunity for an intermediate level structural engineer offering work on remarkable structures and first class training and development support. The London office of this multi-discipline practice has a twenty-five strong building structures team with the expertise to innovate and design the most demanding projects.

Project Workload: A mix of new and refurbishment projects spanning the education, arts, residential, commercial and historic, with an involvement from inception through to completion providing regular client contact and site visits. Projects typically range in value between £20m and £150m utilising all the commonly used materials. They tend to work on high profile schemes, often with a high degree of technical complexity. Their reputation for technical excellence means they regularly collaborate with leading architectural practices.

Your Duties: Under the guidance and mentorship of a structures associate you will be involved in detail design and analysis. More generally you will be given insight into the whole design process and asked to contribute ideas from concept stages onwards. You will be required to learn and develop as an engineer, and as a communicator who can develop working relationships with architects, clients and other engineering disciplines. Projects will utilise all the commonly used materials. In addition to your engineering duties you will be expected to work towards achieving chartered status with the ICE or IStructE. The company’s employees perform especially well when sitting IStructE part three exams and ICE professional reviews. There is on-going support and coaching to ensure you become professionally qualified without delay.

About You: You will need a 2:1 in civil or structural engineering from a reputable university and at least two years building structures design experience. You should have knowledge of Auto CAD and design software such as Master Series and SCIA. An interest in the built environment, the ability to think laterally and good team working skills are essential. This is a well managed, profitable and long established consultancy with an excellent reputation. They will invest heavily in your training and development and provide excellent working conditions.
