Senior Structural Engineer

Your Role: You will be investigating the cause and origin of structural related defects and failures, your findings will be used to resolve legal disputes, claims and to improve standards. During initial site investigations, you will typically oversee field testing, gather photographic evidence and interview witnesses. This information will enable you to unravel the cause of the failure, consulting specialist experts as required. You will then prepare a report that provides a clear explanation of your findings. This needs to be expressed in a way that can be understood by those from a non-technical background, whilst being robust enough to pass scrutiny during claims settlement and litigation.

Your Profile: A chartered civil engineer (MICE) or chartered structural engineer (MIStructE) with strong technical expertise gained within the consulting engineering sector. Naturally inquisitive with the ability to apply lateral thinking skills to resolve engineering problems. Good communication skills are essential, your findings, which will identify the cause of a failure, will take the form of a report that can be understood by those from a non-technical background, whilst being able to withstand scrutiny from legal, insurance and technical professionals.

Training & Progression: Support will be provided to enable you to apply your specialist technical expertise from a forensic investigations perspective. You will learn how to carry out investigations and present your findings.
