Principal Highways Engineer

As a Principal Highways Engineer, you can be working exclusively from the comfort of home for one of the world most recognised multidisciplinary consultancies with this great opportunity in Glasgow.

You will support the ongoing expansion of business opportunities within strategic highways and local transport markets by leading a team of engineers, technicians, and other professionals.

Alongside delivering projects you will have the opportunity to identify and manage future business opportunities as well as developing the careers of other team members.

The role is suitable for an experienced Highways Engineer with an appetite to sustainably grow the established design office whilst maintaining the highest possible engineering standards to ensure client satisfaction.

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE YOU WILL

• Provide technical guidance on all projects.
• Mentor and coach team members.
• Produce 3D models, drawings, and specifications to relevant standards.
• Review the work of others.
• Liaise with practice managers and ensure that projects are sufficiently resourced.
• Identify commercial opportunities whilst mitigating risks.
• Support the business in winning work at networking events, preparing bids and tenders, maintaining relationships with existing clients.

PRINCIPAL HIGHWAYS ENGINEER ROLE

• Chartered or near chartered level.
• Experience working closely with clients, stakeholders, local authorities, transport Scotland etc.
• Sound knowledge of latest infrastructure standards and guidance documents.
• Familiar with highway alignment design including links and junctions.
• Proven track record of coaching and developing team members.
• Ability to advise clients on technical matters.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
