Senior Civil Engineer

Overview: This is a home based position for a civil engineer looking for more autonomy and a secure and varied new career. It is a role with a leading UK certification body, where you will provide vital guidance and advice to manufacturers who develop and fabricate products that are fundamental to the heavy civil engineering and building structures industry. This is a highly regarded organisation employing experienced construction and engineering professionals drawn from the consulting, contracting and public sector. The certification they provide is essential for their clients operations and frequently required ahead of tendering for projects predominantly in the nuclear, highways, rail, ports & harbours and building structures sectors.  

Your Role: You will visit construction sites, contractors and construction product manufacturers to provide advice on becoming certified and assess and advise existing clients to ensure they are upholding certification standards. This will include critical aspects of design, quality of raw material and calibration of equipment and plant. The position has a focus on the heavy civil engineering industry and the critical nature of certification means you will regularly have contact with senior client representatives.  You will be responsible for planning your weekly travel itinerary, assessing company management systems, production, testing/ control processes and site practices, competence of staff, testing and quality assurance procedures. Support and training will be provided to enable you to apply your expertise.

Profile Required: You should be a degree of HND qualified civil or building structures engineer with a consulting engineering, contracting or public sector background. Working with a range of client contacts up to CEO level will require good interpersonal skills, you will be expected to maintain the excellent working relationships they have forged with their clients over the years. The position is predominantly home based with regular travel, you will need to be well organised and have a valid UK driving license.
