Senior Civil Estimator (roads) – Wellington, New Zealand

The civil and infrastructure sector in New Zealand is already busy and with a huge pipeline of work ahead the mood of the industry is very positive. Due to the amount of work ahead my client is looking for a Senior Civil Estimator to join their commercial team in Wellington. They are a national contractor focusing primarily on roads and road related infrastructure throughout New Zealand. Wellington is seeing unprecedented levels of infrastructure work and so a top senior estimator will see them secure the lion’s share of those projects. In order to secure the right skills and experience this contractor is looking locally and internationally to find the right person.

As Senior Civil Estimator you will be working alongside a team of estimators, project managers and attributes writers, strategically planning the workload ahead and leading the tender/bid team. You will be responsible for creating method statements, risk assessments and tender programmes/documents whilst at the same time liaising with designers, clients and subcontractors where appropriate. Your background can be varied but you must have some good experience within the road construction sector. Other desirable attributes include;

• A degree or equivalent industry related qualification
• A minimum of 10 years in the civil and infrastructure sector in an estimating role
• Experience in a wide range of road construction projects
• Experienced with estimating software such as Candy or similar
• A proven track record of successfully winning projects
• Excellent organisation and communication skills

Although highly demanding this role is also very rewarding and the successful candidate will play a crucial part in the ongoing success of the business.
