Job Title: Principal Highways Engineer

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Bonus, 25 days annual leave, 15% Pension

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Highways Engineer to join their team based in central Edinburgh at Principal level.

As the successful candidate, you will have extensive UK experience in highway alignment design and be comfortable dealing with clients and stakeholders.

This role is suitable for Senior Highways Engineers seeking a step up or Principal level engineers looking to work with one of the best engineering consultancies in the world.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of technical highway design projects, ensuring the successful delivery of design solutions and specification.
• Coordinate with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to gather information and assess requirements for successful design.
• Ensure that highway design complies with design standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Manage project costs and ensure that they are within the budget.
• Attend project meetings and liaise with stakeholders, such as contractors, clients, and government officials.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.

Key requirements:

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in highway alignment design within the UK.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to clients and stakeholders.
• Professional qualifications, preferably nearing Chartership.
• Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including safety regulations.
• Strong analytical and design skills.
