Job Details

We are working with a reputable civil engineering consultancy that, although small in size, are both innovative and forward thinking in their approach. They are involved with the design of a range of civil engineering infrastructure projects and due to an exciting period of growth they have a vacancy for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their civils team on a full-time, permanent working from home basis. The successful Senior Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with a Director to form new client relationships, initially preparing fee proposals and subsequently ensuring projects are delivered to client expectations in terms of quality time and budget and agreed with relevant approval authorities. Excellent planning skills are essential as you will be required to take a leading role in developing the planning side of the business e.g. planning report production from initial enquiry to completion, primarily preparing Flood Risk Assessments (flood zones 1, 2 and 3) and Drainage Strategies, but also Utility and Transport reports inputs as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of surface water and SuDS Drainage Strategy reports to support planning applications,
  • Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments,
  • Preparation of compliant Private and Adoptable (S104) drainage designs,
  • implementation and design for new developments using SuDS,
  • Preparation of compliant Private and Adoptable (S38/S278) highway designs,
  • Negotiation with relevant third-party stakeholders typically related to obtaining drainage and highway consents and approvals (such as 104/106/ S38/S278 agreements).

Requirements:

  • A degree in civil engineering or equivalent,
  • A minimum of 5 years' within a UK consultancy undertaking highway and drainage design,
  • Strong experience preparing surface water and SuDS Drainage Strategy reports to support planning applications including the preparation of supporting associated hydraulic model outputs and drainage strategy drawings
  • Strong experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments in flood zones 1, 2 and 3 to support planning applications.
  • Preparation of compliant detailed Private and Adoptable drainage (S104/S106) and highway (S278/S38) design would be highly advantageous.
  • Managing fee proposals for pre-planning work and taking a lead role in the development of new client relationships for this side of the business
  • Confident in dialogue/negotiation with relevant third-party stakeholders typically related to obtaining drainage and highway planning consents and approvals
  • Strong knowledge of Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authority and SuDS implementation requirements.
  • Past management experience would be highly advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
  • Timely, committed, organised and committed to the delivery of projects of all sizes.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with an overarching technical mindset.
  • Strong Autocad drafting experience in relation to highway and drainage projects and able to turn schemes around in a timely manner.
