Project Manager (Civils)

We are working with a global, market leading contractor that specialises in sourcing energy from waste and renewable gas. They have asked us to help them find a Project Manager with a background in Civil Design to play a leading role within the Civils team in their Essex office on a full time permanent basis.

This company build energy plants, developing them with their clients and offering their experience as general engineering, procurement and construction contractors to deliver complex new plants and also to offer a comprehensive, expert and reliable after sales service for operators of existing plants.

Responsibilities include:

• Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ). Actively encourages and leads the HZI and Contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements,
• Responsible for ensuring that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into design and that HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable,
• Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised,
• Ensures works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract, and conform with project time, budget and HSEQ requirements,
• Takes ownership on accountability for the Civil EPC project in the tender and in the execution phase,
• Leads all Project Management issues on the Civil Work Scope and manages Civil Project team with task allocation and delegation of Authority to ensure Project Objectives in terms of work scope, budget and schedule are met,
• Represents civil project towards site and line management and engaged subcontractors,
• Interfaces with all involved stack holders for the benefit of the Project Success,
• Defines Civil Project Scope (DOW, design scope, WBS, etc.) with full accountability during tender and execution,
• Elaborates and if necessary revises the Civil Site schedule based on design to construction sequence and including the Civil Procurement Schedule,
• Manages the interface and gives the civil input to the project time schedule,
• Carries out progress monitoring and assessment of time to complete,
• Manages civil costs in line with budget; reports deviations in cost forecast to line management,
• Roots cause analysis.

Requirement:

• A degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management,
• Previous experience as Construction Manager Civil or Project Manager EPC or Subcontractor Civil Company in the heavy / industrial civil business,
• Experience of Contractual and Commercial Management
• Experienced as a leader in HSEQ management and knowledge of relevant HSEQ,
• legal and Management System requirements,
• Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent,
• Valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC), Safepass (ROI), CSCS or CCNSG card or equivalent,
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications
• Ability to analyse costs versus budget, and to track and report movements and take necessary, timely corrective actions
