Job Details

Overview: This structural CAD position is with one of the UK’s longest established consultancies and  offers excellent employment security, with a forward workload stretching ten years into the future. It will provide experience in growth sectors, focused on energy distribution and renewables, alongside building superstructure projects. You would be joining a very successful part of their business which is steadily expanding, its stability and growth provides the ideal conditions for career development.

The company: A multi-discipline consultancy employing over two hundred personnel. This is an independent, British owned firm that has traded successfully for over a century. They work in the industrial, commercial and residential sectors. Their professional expertise includes civil and structural engineering, architecture, building surveying and project management.

Your Role:  You will join a small CAD team and report to the CAD manager whilst working alongside civil & structural engineering colleagues. Your focus will be on the production of 2D general arrangement drawings, and you will have the opportunity to work on three dimensional models. The workload will cover a range of civil and structural topics for buildings and energy related projects, typically designed in steel, masonry and concrete, with slightly more emphasis on steel structures. There will be the occasional requirement to accompany your structural design colleagues during site surveys.

Profile Required: A background in building or industrial structures gained from working in an engineering consultancy. At least five years’ experience using Auto CAD that includes the production of  general arrangement drawings.  A team player who can collaborate with engineering colleagues to deliver accurate and timely work.

Hybrid Working: There is a flexible approach to home working. The position can be largely home based for those who prefer it, and who are productive working away from the office. A company work station, mobile and good IT support is provided.
