A hugely exciting time to join the Council, this role is key in taking forward major projects such as:
- The Fulford Flood Alleviation Scheme
- A regional Defra funded development seeking innovative ways to link rural land managers and communities at flood risk through targeted flood risk modelling including the creation of innovative communications tools.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant difference and shape how the city responds to flooding in the future though the development of strategy and the management of flood risk and drainage infrastrucutre.
Crucially, you should be forward thinking, be able to lead, inspire and motivate others including partners and through collaborative team working and be capable of achieving organisation success.
You will lead the city’s response to flood risk and oversee both the strategic long-term response as well as supporting the council with your knowledge and expertise in its flood response.
Educated to degree level with significant experience in civil engineering or hydrology, you will have a working knowledge of flood risk management and be able to demonstrate skills in strategy development and project management.
This role is suitable as a job sharing opportunity.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
Relocation expenses, in accordance with the City of York Council’s Relocation Policy, may be available for the successful candidate subject to meeting the relevant criteria.
