There is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and hard-working programme delivery managers to join my dynamic and growing team, where you will be working to support the delivery of a busy capital delivery portfolio / programmes for Sheffield City Council, leading a team of project managers.          

This role is ideally suited to someone with a construction delivery background with a proven track record, technical knowledge and relevant professional qualifications.

You will be supporting the Head of Project Delivery with delivery of the capital programme. The role is based in the project management team delivering significant portfolios /programmes of capital works across transportation, regeneration, housing, education, flood water management and fire compliance and we are keen to hear from candidates with significant experience in at least one of these areas.

Examples of key projects currently in delivery are transport and infrastructure schemes, significant programmes of work delivering active travel schemes across Sheffield, regeneration projects such as Castle gate, Housing upgrades and fire compliance schemes, Newstead housing development, school-expansion schemes, central library upgrades etc.

You will have extensive experience in programme management and matrix management of projects as well as experience in motivating, leading and managing direct line reports.

Key responsibilities of the job include:               

  • To lead the development, implementation, and management of a capital Programme/Portfolio, including liaison with Programme/ Project Sponsors through building and leading a high performing programme delivery team.   
  • Supporting the Head of Project Delivery to establish and maintain a performance improvement culture through implementation of robust metrics, performance targets and consequence management.
  • Provide professional and subject matter expert guidance on all programme, project, and contract management for construction schemes within the portfolio/ programme you are responsible for.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
