We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a skilled Civil Engineer to join our client's dynamic team in Newcastle, working on a wide range of diverse and impactful projects. Their work spans various sectors, including residential estates, quarry and mining sites, renewable energy (wind, solar, and battery storage), commercial developments, and educational facilities. From initial feasibility to construction, they support clients at every stage, ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

As a key member of the Civil Engineering team, you will be involved in the preparation of reports, drawings, and specifications for infrastructure design, with a primary focus on highway and drainage systems. This role offers you the chance to lead design development, working alongside clients, planning authorities, and a multidisciplinary team to bring projects to life. You'll develop outline designs to meet national and local standards, gain planning approval, and evolve the designs to full technical approval before producing the necessary construction documentation.

You will take the lead in managing design processes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. While you'll be given significant responsibility, you'll also have the full support of senior and junior staff, allowing you to grow in your role and advance your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop highway and drainage designs in line with national and local standards.
  • Lead the design development process, collaborating with clients and authorities.
  • Prepare and present Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports.
  • Oversee the production of detailed drainage network designs and progress schemes through S106 agreements.
  • Drive projects forward to secure S278 / 38 adoption agreements.
  • Ensure high-quality technical documentation and reports are produced.

About you:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in civil engineering design, particularly in infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in digital design tools such as AutoCAD, Civils 3D, PDS, MicroDrainage, and Causeway Flow.
  • Strong experience in preparing Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and applying SuDS principles.
  • Solid understanding of national and local highway design standards and S278/S38 agreements.
  • Experience in the detailed design of drainage networks, progressing schemes to adoption through S106 agreements.
  • Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently in client meetings and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a commercial mindset in delivering innovative solutions.
  • A background in working within multi-disciplinary teams and project management environments.

You will be rewarded with a comprehensive and generous benefits package that includes private health care scheme and flexi & hybrid working.

If you are a talented and motivated Civil Engineer with a passion for infrastructure design and a desire to work on a range of exciting projects, we want to hear from you. Send your CV to Graham Ventham at Conrad Consulting.
